GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Our philosophy somewhat restricts, and yet shapes, the areas in which we practice. For example, in the area of family law, our philosophy mandates three guiding principles, which are:
  1. Honoring and obeying God through a very difficult trial.
  2. Attempting to do what we can to reconcile the marriage.
  3. Protecting (within the boundaries of the law) our client and his or her loved ones.

A BRIEF HISTORY

Richard C. Annis, Sr. graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1927 and began practicing law as a sole practitioner. That practice was the original predecessor to the current law firm, building a legacy deeply rooted on integrity. Over the years he took on several partners and in 1960 his son, Richard C. Annis, Jr., joined the firm.  Just eight years later Mr. Annis, Sr. retired from the practice.

In 1977 the law firm moved from the Waters Building, downtown Grand Rapids to 4280 Alpine in Comstock Park. In 1978 Timothy B. Visser joined the firm, and in 1980 the name of the firm was changed to Annis, Annis & Visser.

After clerking for a Circuit Court Judge, Eric E. Brandt joined the firm in 1998. His addition to the firm allowed Richard C. Annis, Jr. to retire in 2001 and a new firm was formed under the name Annis, Annis & Visser, P.C. Richard C. Annis, Sr. passed away in 2004, just short of his 102nd birthday.

In the Fall of 2006, our office moved to its present location at 2228 Alpine in Walker, and the name of the firm was changed to Annis, Visser & Brandt, P.C. To this day we continue to carry on the legacy that Mr. Annis built on integrity and Christian principles and values.
